A trip to do some Sukkot laundry; Seriously, does ANYBODY go to sleep on Sukkot?
A LATE NIGHT LAUNDROMAT
That night, it became apparent our clothing would not hold out. I left Dallin to sleep, while a taxi driver took me to a late-night laundromat. A few extra shekels allowed me to get my laundry within two hours.
It was the season of Sukkot, or the "Feast of Tabernacles." This holiday requires children of Israel to stay in a temporary shelter, with the open sky visible through the thatched roof. It was as if EVERYONE in Israel was awake! Men, women, teens, and even little children were awake and running around and riding bikes at all hours.
I found a falafel place and wrote some notes. I even got to peek into the world of a family celebrating Sukkot. I didn't want to pry too much, but it was a beautiful window into their worship.
